There are three ways to apply for Social Security Disability(SSD) benefits: in-person, online, and by phone. What you say when applying matters, and what you say may harm your case if you are not careful.

On the paper application question# 22 asks: “Are you still unable to work because of your illnesses, injuries, or conditions? Yes or No.”  SSD claimants seeking to obtain SSD benefits should first and foremost remember they are applying because they are disabled.

If you are applying for Social Security benefits because you lost your job, cannot find a job, or cannot find a job that pays enough, Social Security Disability is not for you! In order to qualify for benefits you must have a condition that is severe enough to keep you from working.
